Every once in awhile we at Record Breakin’ like to go to the vault and listen to some gems that have not been released. This summer was no exception when we were reminded of a wonderful remix that our fam Slimkat78 did for Anthony Valadez’s AUDIO /VISUAL : Reworked, Recycled and Remixed album. Slimkat78 teamed up with Iman Williams to create Bus Stop Lullaby (The Waiting) his re-interpretation of Bus Stop Lullaby from AUDIO / VISUAL: Sounds Inspired By All Things Visual.

Slimkat’s remix may take you right back to your childhood when you used to wait for the school bus in the morning or perhaps today’s vibe on your daily commute. Meanwhile, Iman Williams vocals beautifully weaves the original sketches of Anthony’s creation to the interpretation of Slimkat’s new production.

In 2009 Record Breakin’ Music released the highly successful debut full length album Audio/Visual (www.recordbreakin.com/audio_visual.html) from artist, club and radio dj, playwright, Anthony Valadez. This album was a collection of beats that became modified with the addition of live instrumentation to add texture. The concept of the album was based on the merger between sight and sound. Each song, sampled and layered is inspired by a visual that inspired Valadez. “I’ve always been inspired by the visual element of everyday life.” Valadez explained. Valadez enlisted the vocal talents of Stockholm’s now New Yorker Kissey Asplund and Los Angeles’ Wendisue on a few of the tracks. Nevertheless, majority of the project was an instrumental soundscape accompanied with the musicianship of Dexter Story (Life Force Trio, Build an Ark), Shaunte Palmer (Raphael Saadiq, Talib Kweli) and Evan Lasrey.

Fast forward to the fall of 2010…Audio/Visual was grabbing the attention of different producers from around the globe. Feedback and accolades on the project began to come in and request and drafts of remixes were flooding the Record Breakin’ office. The response was so overwhelming that the decision to make a remix project came to fruition. What you are listening to is the culmination of a beautiful album that was Reworked, Recycled and Remixed (www.recordbreakin.com/audio_visual.html) by crafty producers. Contributions come from Dj Limbs, P Slang, Mr. Sonny James, The S Ence, Dotmatic, Sir Froderick, Noam, Spinnerty, lil’ dave, and DJ Destroyer. As an additional treat we included a few bonus tracks that have never been released until now that feature: Lynn Elishaw, Audra Triska, Dexter Story, Vivian Perez and Samiyam.
